Responsibilities:
The Director of Business Development at TBGA plays a pivotal role, encompassing a spectrum of responsibilities vital to our organizational growth and success. As a key member of our leadership team, the Director is entrusted with shaping and executing strategies to foster fruitful connections and secure contracts with both commercial and government clientele. Responsibilities include:
· Strategy Development: Formulate and uphold the overarching strategy for customer engagement and acquisition. This involves devising approaches to effectively connect and contract with customers across diverse sectors, including commercial enterprises and governmental agencies.
· Communication Oversight: Oversee communication initiatives targeting industry stakeholders. Manage budgets allocated for sponsorships, conferences, and promotional activities while collaborating with the communications team to maintain TBGA's brand integrity as a trusted, independent entity staffed by proficient professionals.
· Alignment with Government Affairs: Collaborate with the Director of Government Affairs to ensure that our messaging aligns seamlessly with our engagements with governmental bodies such as the DoD and DoE, as well as with other domestic and international entities.
· Coordination with Programs: Work closely with the Director of Programs to manage seamless transitions in proposal efforts. This involves ensuring clarity and feasibility in proposals concerning schedule, scope, and cost, while managing customer expectations regarding pricing, scope, and contractual terms.
· Alignment with Engineering: Liaise with the Director of Engineering to ensure that our Independent Research and Development (IR&D) endeavors remain commercially viable and contribute to revenue generation.
· Competitive Analysis: Maintain vigilance over our competitors to identify areas of differentiation and capitalize on potential opportunities. This awareness may lead to the exploration of joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships with other organizations.
· Team Leadership: Responsible for the leadership of Business Development, Government Affairs, and Communications team members ensuring integration into TBGA Programs and other strategic initiatives. Facilitate personal and professional development for direct reports.
· Client Relationship Management: Identify and research potential clients, nurture existing client relationships, and negotiate contract terms in collaboration with the Programs team.
· Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research to stay abreast of industry trends, client needs, and competitive dynamics.
· Strategic Partnerships: Develop and manage strategic partnerships to expand our business reach and capabilities.
· Pipeline Management: Track and maintain a qualified sales pipeline, ensuring a steady flow of prospects to drive business growth.
· Presentation Delivery: Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to prospective clients and internal stakeholders to showcase TBGA's capabilities and value proposition.
· Process Optimization: Create and implement processes and policies to enhance overall business efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
· Minimum 10 years of experience in technical, project management, or sales roles
· Minimum 5 years of experience in business development/sales role
· Leadership experience
