Designing for Additive Manufacturing
NO-COST training tailored for naval applications
NO-COST training tailored for naval applications
This NO-COST training is built for Maritime Industrial Base and Defense Industrial Base professionals who are evaluating, adopting, or scaling additive manufacturing capabilities in support of Department of Defense programs.
This intensive in-person 20-hour course provides participants with a thorough understanding of additive manufacturing (AM) design principles and their practical applications across industries. The training emphasizes hands-on learning with proven methodologies, bridging the gap between traditional manufacturing and the innovation enabled by additive manufacturing.
Upon completion, participants will have mastered both “Modify for AM” techniques to optimize existing designs for additive manufacturing and “Design for AM” methodologies to create innovative designs that leverage AM’s unique capabilities. The training also focuses on identifying cost drivers and opportunities for significant savings through strategic AM implementation.
Phenix Commerce Center: 60 Aberdeen Rd, Ste 100, Hampton, VA 23661
Monday, April 20, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Tuesday, April 21, 8:30am – 4:30 pm
Wednesday, April 22, 8:30am – 12:30pm
The course is organized into five comprehensive modules that build upon each other to create a complete learning experience:
Provides foundational knowledge and introduces participants to the broader landscape of additive manufacturing technologies and applications.
Delves deeper into the technical aspects of various AM processes and the materials that enable them, providing participants with the knowledge needed to make informed technology selection decisions.
Demonstrates how to identify candidate parts for additive manufacturing, understands Modifying for Additive Manufacturing (MfAM) vs Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) differences, and how to overcome limitations in the additive manufacturing process.
Examines the unique design considerations and workflows required for successful additive manufacturing implementation, including leveraging tools for specific DfAM strategies.
Equips participants with the business acumen needed to justify and implement AM solutions within their organizations.
Throughout the program, participants will engage in hands-on collaborative team exercises designed to reinforce learning and provide practical application of the concepts presented. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided each day, allowing participants to remain fully focused on the learning experience.
TBGA’s training stands apart for its independent, data-driven methodology, developed by committed AM professionals with over 500 years of combined experience. The team’s unique perspective comes from their hands-on experience implementing, qualifying, and certifying AM hardware across various industries and applications. The training employs a requirements-based approach that ensures participants understand not just the “how” but also the “why” behind additive manufacturing decisions.
