LPBF Process Principal ADDvisor®

About the Role

As a TBGA Principal ADDvisor® (PA), you will be a valued and trusted member of The Barnes Global Advisors advanced manufacturing consultancy, reporting to the Director of Engineering, acting as a member of the ADDvisor® team. The PA supports strategic company goals and effectively contributes to the potential of the team to deliver value to the customer to create a world-class product.

The objective of this role is to lead the development, qualification of, and implementation of additive manufacturing production processes using metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF). The Principal ADDvisor® will act as a subject matter expert for LPBF, helping customers to implement stable, robust, and repeatable LPBF processes. The PA will participate in business development, proposal writing, and technical program execution as a technical resource.

Responsibilities:

It is expected that the Principal ADDvisor® shall develop creative solutions that match customer’s expectations. They shall be responsible for creation of project scope, execution of projects, and general team activities within the TBGA team. This will include:

  • Serve as a technical expert in the LPBF process, process and material qualification, determination of material equivalence, and part qualification and certification programs.

  • Assess technical feasibility and develop technical plans for qualification of parts and part families.

  • Responsible for the detailed planning, scheduling, and execution of project tasks to meet deadlines and project goals.

  • Assist in supply chain development efforts to ensure viability of the industrial base to meet LPBF process demand.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for project-related communications, coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project requirements, progress, and outcomes.

  • Monitor project deliverables for compliance with customer technical specifications and quality standards, intervening as necessary to correct any deviations.

  • Responsible for the preparation of comprehensive project reports and documentation, ensuring that all project details are accurately captured and well-communicated to all relevant parties.

  • Execute projects to develop and implement AM modalities, qualification test matrices, and develop secondary processing methods to meet the customer production requirements to high customer satisfaction, including project reviews and close outs, acting as or supporting a Principal Investigator.

  • Support TBGA business development initiatives, customer engagements, and subsequent proposal writing. Meet utilization rate goals for billable hours.

  • Assist TBGA initiatives and operations to sustain a healthy organization and foster a positive team culture and working environment.

  • Mentor and facilitate the professional growth of peers.

  • Act as a TBGA Brand Ambassador via external engagements, media, and social media.

Requirements:

  • Recognized as a technical leader in LPBF process engineering

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience independently delivering and/or leading technical engineering programs and projects

  • Experienced researcher, technical lead, or production lead in advanced manufacturing technologies, with emphasis on additive manufacturing

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
